Moon

Our sun emanates and energises. It folds the clouds, warms rain, melts snow, fills rivers. The sun envelopes earth, reaching into oceans, invigorating plants, sculpting mountains and filling valleys. It’s shining petals illuminate the mystery of life's beginning.

The Moon cools so corals sawn, wildly in its gleam, and oysters sing while polishing their pearls. Purifying passions, leaving love distilled, as clear as moonshine in mountains of carved tinsel, where trees are silhouettes beside the stars.

Some creatures wait upon the Moon to haul the tides, others for the Sun to heat their hearts. But nature never switches off and on. Its rhythms blend the lights and darks. It balances the cosmic swing and throw when Sun and Moon perform their daily dance. They gently change the world from shade to glow, which is the essence of romance.

- Le Cuvier

Sun and Moon are the pre-eminent sculptural outcomes of Edward Linacre’s illuminated woven timber structures, stemming from an obsession with geometries inherent in nature and the ancient algorithm of the Fibonacci sequence. This algorithm - which exists at a microscopic scale in Angelfish ovaries whilst defining the form of galaxies - informs his evolution of the ‘Weave’; a modifiable bamboo mesh that is lightweight yet incredibly robust when assembled, and comprises only two repeating parts.

Sun & Moon Illuminated Wall Sculptures are made at 1000mm and 1500mm diameters, and are woven in Bamboo, Stained Bamboo, or any of the Elton Eveneer range of sustainable timbers.
